We are parents who adopted our children from Southern Vietnam. We spent five long weeks in Ca Mau, the Southernmost province in the country. While in Ca Mau, we were stunned and saddened by the great number of children living on the street. Kids no more than 9- or 10-years old with no families, no homes and no food were begging for food and money, fighting each other for bread. They were helpless and we felt helpless.
With our amazing children home with us in the U.S., we still have Vietnam's children in our hearts and one our minds -- the ones that don't have hope. So, we decided to do something about it.
Education is the most powerful gift that anyone can be given. It changes lives, changes minds and changes the future. We are raising money to build a holistic education facility and fund outreach programs to help with healthcare and food for children living on the street in Southern Vietnam by partnering with an incredible organization, We Love Kids.
A Vietnamese proverb says: "When the bamboo is old, the bamboo sprouts appear," meaning that when the previous generation dies, children will be born to fulfill their destiny and continue the Vietnamese culture.
